Kim Towne's Story

Suwanee, Georgia

My mom, who's not particuarly computer-savvy to receive or print photos via email, loves that she receives a slideshow of her only two grandchildren all day.

We live in Georgia with our two young children (ages 4 and 2) and all of our parents are in Ohio. For Christmas, all of the siblings got together to purchase receivers and one-year packages for each of four sets of grandparents. They were incredibly surprised!

My husband has three siblings, each living in a different state. It is great that they also can send their photos of special events to the grandparents and create a wonderful, warm slideshow for Mom and Dad! What is really amazing is the reaction they receive from their friends who visit — every person who sees what the CEIVA® system does is fascinated and impressed. We have loved uploading new photos of major milestones: first day of school, birthday parties, trips to the zoo, new baby announcement, etc.

I uploaded a photo of our then 2-year-old son wearing a "I'm the big brother" shirt as a surprise. That was how we announced we were expecting our second child! It's a great way to touch someone across the miles. I also upload photos for every single holiday.

For my dad's 60th birthday last year, I uploaded 30 total images: some current ones of him doing things he loves (ballooning, fishing, playing with the kids) and also several photos from his childhood. It was a huge surprise to him!

Tonight, I'm uploading a dozen photos of our daughter's new "fairytale" bedroom that we just created and she is sleeping in for the first time. It's the "big girl" room and bed photo that will probably really touch my family the most tomorrow morning!

I use the greeting card option constantly. In January, I actually sit down and create cards for every major holiday, anniversary and birthday (even Grandparents' Day) and post-date them so I know they will be sent the day before the big event. I also create my own cards using a photo editing program and upload those with our own pictures in them as well.
